Success for Isle of Wight Cheese


Isle of Wight Blue won the Fortnum and Mason Trophy for Best English Cheese at the recent World Cheese Awards.

Richard Hodgson was a film editor, working in Newcastle at the beginning of 2006, but with a dream to return to his family home in the Isle of Wight, to become a cheesemaker.  With his mother, Julie, he attended the Basic Cheesemaking Course in January, and the Soft Cheese Course is February.  He moved back to the Island, and spent the summer establishing his premises and equipment, beginning to make cheese in the autumn. 

To acheive such a high accolade so early in his cheesemaking career is an amazing achievement, and testament to the hard work that Rich and Julie have put into Isle of Wight Cheese.  For more details, go to www.isleofwightcheese.co.uk
